Vocal Crossover Method

At ARJAY MUSIC the approach is simple: anyone can improve his or her singing. From beginners to advanced, Becky’s strength lies in her ability to make that which is complex achievable without missing a beat. From Opera to Rock, Jazz, Pop or Music Theatre, Becky enables students to achieve one fundamental vocal technique that can then be applied to all styles of music. Despite the fact a rock singer sounds the opposite to that of an opera singer, a student is able to apply the same vocal technique with slight manipulation of correct laryngeal muscles and stylistic musical changes. This is the Vocal Crossover Method.  

No matter what style is sung, it is imperative that the individual is able to harness their own unique sound, which can then be shaped into something beautiful, rather than a manufactured, over-worked voice where the sound is hindered. 

With a Bachelor of Music (Performance) from the Victorian College of the Arts and years of vocal teaching experience behind her, including the instruction of VCE music syllabus, Becky is able to guide students in the right direction with correct technical instruction and repertoire choices. Each vocal assessment is individually tailored to the student so that appropriate goals and programs are achieved in a short space of time.  As an experienced performer she also develops performance skills and helps with issues related to inner confidence.

What is most valuable, however, is Becky’s ability to diagnose and undo ongoing and existing vocal problems related to poor breathing, tongue and jaw tension, unstable larynx positioning and under abducted/over adducted vocal folds. By spending crucial time undoing technical vocal problems and prescribing exercises specifically targeted to these areas, the individual is then able to move forward and sing with ease, power, improved range, stability, tonal variation and clarity.
